King Gambrinus XXVIII and Queen of the Krewe 2017

Gambrinus King and his Queen!

King Gambrinus XXVIII is Jarrell J. (Jerry) Priess, will be crowned and at the annual Coronation Ball on February 11, 2017 at Moody Gardens Ballroom. Born in Stafford, Kansas, Jerry is a graduate of Stafford High School, the University of Kansas, and the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Jerry served his country for thirty two years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel of the Oklahoma National Guard.

A Krewe member for three years and a member of the Royal Court for two, Jerry was awarded the Life Time Committeemen's Badge with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR), donated a calf for the Student Calf Scramble event along with support to the School Art Committee. In addition, he has been a member of the Galveston Bay Parrott Head Club for sixteen years, Jerry serves as a volunteer in the Parrot Head Charities; the Shriners Children's Hospitals, and the Lighthouse Charity Team.

In addition to contributions to the University of Kansas Endowment Fund, Jerry also makes donations to the Williams Education Fund that supports the scholarships for student athletes.

Jerry has been involved with the aircraft industry for over fifty years, over forty plus with NASA-JSC. He is a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, a dual member with the Houston and Galveston Shriners Clubs, and a life time member of The 100 Club of Houston.

Jerry, lovingly known as "The Duck", would like to thank Carolyn Kahlich for recommending him to the Krewe of Gambrinus as it has been a most rewarding and fun filled fellowship with a host of wonderful people. Dragons Rule! "Come catch my fabulous beads!"


Her Royal Highness Sherry Wilson Lidgett. Her Royal Highness Sherry Wilson-Lidgett. Sherry will be crowned February 11, 2017 at the Coronation Ball held at Moody Gardens Resort. Sherry has been a member of the Royal Court for the last four years, and was incredulous when she found the baby in the King's Cake. Sherry has been an active member of the Krewe of Gambrinus for ten years, works on many committees, but her main interest is the Beads and Means Committee of which her husband is the Director.

Sherry was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in San Francisco, California. She with husband Galen of 18 years currently live in Houston, Texas. Together they have four sons, Kyle, Philip, Kieven, and Blazek and three daughters, Amy, Taylor, and Chandler. Sherry spends as much time as possible with her wonderful grandchildren Peyton, Bryce, and Makenna.

Sherry was the Owner/Director of the National Award Winning Champion Super Star Dance and Cheer Teams. When she retired, the Krewe of Gambrinus gave her the opportunity to use her creativity to design costumes, umbrellas, and hats for the Krewe. She currently loves to travel with her husband on business and pleasure trips. Whether traveling by train, plane, boat, or car she loves it all!

Sherry is looking forward to the 2017 Mardi Gras Season. Sherry says, "Come and join the Krewe of Gambrinus in the Best Parade EVER!"
