The King: King Gambrinus XXIII is Charlie Silva - Charles and his wife Beverly have been members of the Krewe since 2003. They are among the founding members of the Jester Circle and are active supporters of Krewe fund raising events. Charles was born and raised in New Orleans and Beverly is from Dallas. They met and married while attending the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Their family includes daughter Laura and son-in-law John Braun and daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Brandon Baylor as well as five grandchildren Grace, Sarah, Andrew, Dana and Casey. Beverly retired after 31 years as the Instructional Office for Science for Klein ISD. Charles is president of Sivell Corporation, a software engineering firm which provides customized applications for international logistics companies and wireless applications for a variety of industries. Charles invites you and your family to our parade as King Gambrinus lights up the night in saluting Madison Avenue. The Queen: Her Royal Highness is Karen Hansen - A member of the Krewe since 1993 and float co-captain with her husband, Eric (King Gambrinus XVII) for 17 years, she has been serving on the Social committee for that same period of time. Karen and Eric have lived in Galveston for 25 years. Her daughter, Heidi, with her husband, Darren Seigel and their children, Quincy, Zane, and Noa, live in Galveston as well. Her son, Monte and wife, Lisa, reside in Perth, Australia. After starting Medical school at UTMB at the tender age of 41, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UTMB, and practiced Primary Care Medicine in the Galveston area, retiring two years ago. Both retired now, they are enjoying traveling and all the other things for which there was never time before. Karen welcomes you all to Commercials on Parade and invites you to come to the Parade Line up area to view the amazing costumes.
